A 'lil synapsis...

I am a senior at Lake Roosevelt High School, and I have big ambitions for after high school. I want to go into the military, attend college, and become an officer in the Air Force. I wish to do military and college at the same time, while also competing collegiately in Track & Field, and being an active member in AFROTC classes, including the program's extracurriculars, and obtaining my degree early. I would also love the opportunity to travel the world during this time as well. Suffice to say, if I can fit it in, I will do it.

My Passions...

I have a great many interests, hobbies, and extracurriculars, my greatest passions however, number few. Track, academia, and friendships, these were my greatest motivators in high school. I first started track my sophomore year, but I truly fell in love my junior year, and since then my desire to run has only increased, that feeling of a pr, of winning a meet, of setting records, knowing that even after I've graduated, my name will be uttered when announcing meet records, but most importantly, remembered by the underclassmen I loved to coach and see improve. One of my greatest memories this year happened at state, where the parents of one of my competitors I've been racing for the past few years walked up to me and thanked me for teaching and inspiring their son, it wasn't something that took a lot, the little words of encouragement before a race, giving him someone to chase during the race, and a tip or two before the race was all it took.

My Passions cont...

In contrast to the quick rush of excitement after a race, the long awaited feeling of triumph after a particularly difficult essay or unit was second to none. Knowing that after every assignment, I was that much better than I was before was a feeling I want to keep chasing for the rest of my life. The feeling that I am a better person now than I had ever been, someone more accomplished, more learned, and more capable. Regardless of the rigors, the long nights and early mornings, and the ever so many mind numbing essays, quizzes, and dreaded discussion posts, I knew that feeling awaited me after, and the lessons I learned would carry on.

The Best Part...

Of high school, and of my young life so far, however, has been the connections I have made. It is one of my favorite things about track, and one of those I lament the most switching to running start. Meeting new people, making new friends, seeing old ones, I thrive on the relationships I have formed with those around me, whether its one of my closest friends from my childhood, or someone I just decided to walk up to and introduce myself to at a meet, I find that everyone has their own stories, own dreams and their own challenges, each and every one is uniquely theirs and seeing the good in everyone has always been my goal. Being able to help others, whether they need someone to lean or, or someone to push them forward, I want to be that person.
